IT / OT Summer Intern

Functional area: IT / Digital Remuneration: Non-Exempt The IT / OT Summer Internwill be critical in moving the RWECE IT / OT 2025 strategy from plan to execution. The strategy will be developed in Q1/Q2 and will begin implementing key initiatives shortly after. The IT/OT intern will deliver 1-2 strategic initiatives through direct supporting activities (e.g., documentation, training, analysis) and informal means (e.g., liaising across IT / OT functions in business). The summer intern will work closely with senior management, stakeholders, and other project managers to ensure that the execution of stated responsibilities is clear, feasible, and aligned with the business needs. The ideal candidate has demonstrated a history of academic excellence, teamwork, digital/technical background, and communication skills. The candidate must display the ability to perform tasks with guidance, be receptive to coaching, pay attention to detail, and be driven to ensure activities are completed. Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of 1-2 IT / OT strategic initiatives; exact initiatives will be defined after the completion of IT /OT strategy development in April / May, but they could include topics across technical, organizational, or process topics. Examples could include leading agile training for technical teams, document creation, ramp-up for revised demand management process, cultural change management, etc.
- Develop documents, presentations & dashboards to communicate requirements and project status to relevant stakeholders effectively
- Planning and leading working sessions with key stakeholders, including other IT/OT team members, CE business stakeholders, and broader RWE group stakeholders
- Collaborate and lead small teams in cross-functional working teams with potentially other departments or 3rd party vendors to support the delivery of strategic initiatives
- Ad hoc analysis and evaluation in Excel, data visualization tools, or raw output requiring detailed analysis, data interpretation, and synthesis
- Storyboarding and storytelling to presenting insights to technical and business teams using PowerPoint and in-person/virtual meetings
- Contribute to developing documentation, process manual, and other leave-behind artifacts using Word, Visio, and other tools to support change management efforts.
- Process analysis and improvement recommendations through analysis of existing processes and systems and identifying areas for improvements
- Build a network and liaise between IT / OT and business stakeholders to understand detailed technical needs and overall requests from the IT / OT organization
- Manage time and balance participation of responsibilities with RWECE summer intern activities
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of at least one professional internship in strategy, consulting, information technology, or a related field; multiple internships are a plus
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company, the renewables space, and technology
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Strong leadership and communication and ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- Ability to work within tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned (<10%)
