The Private Credit business at Goldman Sachs Asset Management is one of the world's largest alternative credit investing platforms with approximately $113bn of AUM and investment professionals based in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. The Private Credit business originates investments across senior secured loans, mezzanine/unsecured debt, preferred equity and opportunistic credit and invests both the firm's capital and capital raised from outside investors across a wide range of industries.

We are seeking an experienced Associate to join the investing team and focus on workouts and restructurings within the Private Credit portfolio. In this role, the Associate will work with portfolio companies predominately in the US but covering all industries. The role will provide significant opportunities for direct interaction with portfolio company executives and senior leaders within GS Private Credit. The ideal candidate will bring 2-4 years of relevant experience in financial restructuring and will have strong financial modeling skills, communication skills, and knowledge of bankruptcy proceedings, legal frameworks, and distressed debt markets.

Responsibilities:



  • Execute complex financial restructuring transactions, including distressed debt investments, equity recapitalizations, bankruptcy proceedings, and out-of-court workouts
  • Monitor and conduct thorough financial analysis and due diligence on existing investments and potential investment opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external advisors, and legal counsel to formulate and execute restructuring strategies to optimize value for the firm and its investors
  • Create and analyze complex financial models to assess the impact of various restructuring scenarios
  • Communicate with management teams and financial advisors in connection with strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance to understand key trends and drivers of portfolio companies
  • Portfolio monitoring and quarterly valuations
  • Draft and present Investment Committee memos to senior leadership, internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage post-restructuring recovery efforts including representation on boards where GS takes an ownership stake


Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate Bachelor's degree required; Minimum of 2 years of Investment Banking, Principal Investing or Restructuring experience
  • Strong quantitative, financial modeling, analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to own and drive complex projects and execute successfully
  • Passion for investing with specific interest in credit / other structured products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and creative mindset; ability to analyze a variety of industries and businesses
  • Proven ability to manage demands of multiple teams and projects in a fast-paced work environment, including ability to prioritize time efficiently and handle heavy workloads while remaining attentive to detail
  • High level of intellectual curiosity, accountability, and drive; self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to interact and build relationships with a wide variety of people and superior degree of integrity
