Georgia-Pacific's Oriented Strand Board (OSB) plant in Gladys, VA has an incredible job opportunity to join the team as a Shipping / Finishing Technician.

We offer a competitive starting pay of $22.00+ per hour. Operators may also be eligible for variable pay, which is provided as a monetary bonus, based on performance metrics and production targets.

This role will initially focus heavily on job scope in our Shipping department, but may rotate into Finishing area eventually based on staffing needs. Therefore, the selected candidate will need to be able/willing to work either the Shipping or the Finishing dept work schedule:
* Shipping Dept Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday work schedule, 8 - 10 hour shifts generally, rotating between 1st and 2nd Shift.
* Finishing Dept Shift Schedule: Rotating 12-hr shifts

What You Will Do
* This role will initially focus heavily on job scope in our Shipping department, but may rotate into Finishing area eventually based on staffing needs. Therefore, the selected candidate will need to be able/willing to work either the Shipping or the Finishing dept work schedule.
* Responsible for operating equipment to produce and maintain quality of product to meet and/or exceed customer expectations
* Monitor system performance to meet targets
* Operate heavy and moving manufacturing equipment, and mobile equipment including a front-end loader, sweeper, forklift, and manlift
* Conduct required pre-operating checks on forklift and equipment
* Safely move products from warehouse and load on customer's trailers, rail cars and center-beams
* Ensure customer needs are met by operating a forklift/clamp truck to load product with zero defects in a timely manner
* Consolidate and organize warehouse as needed
* Keep all work areas free and clear of debris that could cause problems while loading
* Communicate effectively and respectfully with other team members in a team-based environment
* Learn and comply with all safety policies and regulations to include wearing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment and understanding of permit requirements
* Perform tasks such as sitting, driving, lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for extended periods of time

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
* Two or more years of experience operating a forklift
* One year or more of experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment

What Will Put You Ahead
* Experience with inventory reconciliation
* Experience with flatbed, rail car, or center-beam loading
