The Department of Pediatrics is home to roughly 60 HCOMP faculty and over 250 affiliated faculty at CHOC Children's Hospital and Miller Children's Hospital. Additionally, the Department houses approximately 75 staff and 25 academic staff members. The Department has a robust research portfolio with multiple NIH grants covering research in areas including exercise, neurology, psychiatry, and genetics. The Department receives approximately $15M in annual research awards and the bulk of funding is supporting by NIH. The Department also works closely with the UCI Institute for Clinical and Translational Science. The UCI/CHOC residency program is the 2nd largest at UCI, with 81 residents. In addition, the Department is home to joint UCI/CHOC fellowship programs comprising 34 fellows in the areas of neonatology, critical care, endocrinology, infectious diseases, hematology/oncology, and pediatric hospitalist.


Your Role on the Team

Under the general direction of chief administrative officer in the department of pediatrics, the incumbent will support and manage projects requiring close interaction with department leadership, senior staff and faculty members, and outside organizations. Projects will support administrative and departmental priorities across multiple functional areas, including but not limited to, human resources, facilities management, communications & events, institutional research and fiscal affairs. Facilitates collaborations both within and outside of the Department by working with all levels of management. Develops and leverages relationships within the workplace and builds and sustains excellent relationships at multiple levels in the organization and within the community. Applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies or projects of moderate scope and complexity to address a variety of policy, research and procedural issues. Fully analyzes issues and problems, gathers data and information, finds and evaluates alternatives and makes sound recommendations.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in project analysis or managment

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • High level knowledge of PowerPoint.
