DESCRIPTION

Under supervision of the Program Director, the incumbent will be responsible for providing manualized evidence-based treatment protocols for individual, group, and family psychotherapy in the adolescent program of the UC San Diego Health Eating Disorder Center in the Department of Psychiatry. Primary job responsibilities include: 1. clinical evaluation and treatment; 2. care coordination; 3. milieu management; 4. administrative duties; and 5. ethical decisions & actions on behalf of patients. Therapist will be the milieu therapist for patients with presentations of varying complexity in a high-acuity partial hospital and intensive outpatient setting for eating disorders and co-morbid diagnoses. Attend weekly trainings, workshops, etc. and report on patient progress in weekly treatment team meetings. Engage in management of the patient milieu and consultation with other team members. Performs all other duties as assigned. Able to work evenings and Saturdays depending on business needs.

This position has recently been accreted by UPTE HX union, and will be a part of that union moving forward.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
  • Basic skills in providing behavioral / educational interventions.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards associated with profession.
  • Basic knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
  • Effective verbal and written communication. Proven active listening and persuasion skills.
  • Skills in collaborating with interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of business software and electronic / medical records systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work or the equivalent.
  • Strong motivational interviewing skills.
  • Experience working with eating disorders.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
