Overview

AmTrust Insurance (AmTrust) is seeking an experienced individual to guide public relations and content activities for AmTrust and the company's subsidiary businesses as Director, Public Relations & Content. This position is responsible for driving the AmTrust voice across relevant product lines in the United States, UK and other jurisdictions where the company operates working closely with AmTrust subject matter experts, executives and public relations agencies. This individual will need to have extensive public relations, media relations and communications experience, insurance industry experience strongly preferred, and the ability to work cross-functionally with executives and others in various departments within the organization. This role will focus on communicating the AmTrust story and increasing awareness and affinity for the AmTrust brand, products and people across insurance and industry trade publications, financial and business media, and other relevant media outlets. The Director, Public Relations and Communications will manage external agencies to track activity, provide strategic direction, send out press releases and develop relevant storylines and content to support media outreach activities. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values and upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.



Responsibilities

    Develop and implement public relations (PR) and content strategy working with internal teams and outside PR agencies
  • Drive positive coverage for AmTrust corporate and across AmTrust's three main business divisions - North American Property & Casualty, Warranty & Specialty Risk and AmTrust International
  • Serve as primary contact for PR agencies in US and UK and manage monthly coverage and activity reports and quarterly SOV and messaging analysis working with PR agencies.
  • Work collaboratively across the marketing team including creative services, digital marketing, internal communications, social media and project management functions to develop AmTrust branded reports and other materials reaching key stakeholder audiences.
  • Drafting and distributing press releases and managing approval process internally and externally, as necessary.
  • Keeps current with market trends and demands.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required:

* 10+ years developing and managing successful public relations campaigns, including previous experience working in communications and public relations function in the insurance industry

* Ability to interact directly with executives, including senior management and Executive Committee members

* Firsthand experience with drafting of press releases, SEO optimization and thought leadership copy

* Ability to adapt to tight deadlines and last-minute changes

* Ability to easily shift between multiple projects as priorities dictate

Preferred:

* Experience with crisis communications a plus
