Posting Summary |
Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the Rutgers Housing Justice Project ("
HJP") at the Law School. The
HJP is a Rutgers Law School program, based at the Camden location, through which law students and attorneys provide legal information, assistance, and representation to low and moderate income tenants at risk of losing their homes due to the global pandemic. The
HJP includes the Housing Justice Pro Bono Program and the Housing Advocacy Clinic.
HJP faculty, staff and students will work in partnership with counterparts at Rutgers Law School in Newark as well as at Seton Hall Law School, along with a variety of community partners. The
HJP has two objectives: (1) to provide high quality legal assistance and representation to renters in Southern New Jersey facing evictions, and (2) to provide law students an opportunity to learn substantive and procedural law and to develop lawyering skills. This is a grant funded position that assists the Rutgers Camden Clinical Program.
This position will assists with all aspects of administrating the Rutgers Housing Justice Project ("
HJP"). Specifically, the Project Coordinator will:
* assist
HJP faculty, attorneys, and students with a variety of Project administrative tasks;
* assist with answering phones, conducting client intake, checking for conflicts of interest, scheduling client meetings, and gathering and maintaining client data for reporting purposes;
* assist in the creation of program related materials and reports for grants and handle expense reports and reimbursements
* maintain updated list of referrals and assist in referral of matters and tracking of referral data as appropriate
* provide Spanish/English interpretation and translation services;
* create and maintain case files;
* provide administrative support to Pro Bono Program Administrator as it relates to trainings and community events
* participate in weekly case review will foster generalized knowledge of housing, application of law to facts, and management of case flow.

Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience working in an administrative or case management capacity at a non-profit or legal services organization. Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Computer literacy and bilingual (Spanish/English) fluency. Experience working with diverse populations. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Familiarity with landlord tenant law strongly preferred, but not required. Interpretation experience preferred, but not required. |
