What You Will Do:

GFT is looking for a dynamic Water / Wastewater Engineer offering strong technical expertise to join our land development practice in Houston, TX.

GFT has a Land Development Group, part of their broader portfolio of services within architecture, engineering, and construction. They offer expertise in planning, design, and construction, including for land development projects. What you'll be challenged to do:
The Water Wastewater Engineering professional will be involved in designing water distribution systems and facilities including treatment plants and booster pump stations, wastewater collection systems and facilities, and other projects typical of municipal engineering practice. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently to move projects forward or in a team environment to produce plans and specifications. Large diameter water line and water line routing studies experience is beneficial. Water modeling experience is highly beneficial. This is a hybrid-remote opportunity, with as little as one day per week at our Houston, TX office.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Participating with project teams in the planning, design and construction administration of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure facilities.
  • Involved with client interactions, presentations and project coordination.
  • Coordinating work activities by various technical staff and consultants including developing and implementing study and design standards for consultants to follow, leading progress meetings, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, tracking project schedules, and budgets.
  • Communicating with various municipalities and governmental regulating agencies.
  • Overseeing construction contract management and observation services.
  • Preparing reports and permit applications.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior-level engineers.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
  • 5-8 years of experience in water or wastewater discipline, particularly as an engineer designing water and/or wastewater infrastructure (i.e. treatment and collection/distribution projects)
  • Experience in the evaluation, design, permitting and construction administration of water distribution systems and facilities including treatment plants and booster pump stations, and wastewater collection systems and facilities

What we prefer you will bring to our firm:

  • Experience with large diameter water line and water line routing studies (Preferred)
  • Proficient to intermediate experience with AutoCAD software.
  • Intermediate to advance experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation.
  • Leader and team player possessing strong planning and organizational skills.
