Job Summary

This part-time, temporary position is tasked with helping in the execution of analytical work aimed at examining the elemental concentration and Ca isotopic composition of biological samples. The successful candidate will assist with experiments and measurements of samples. Analytical work will be performed at the Isotoparium, using a Multi Collector Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass-Spectrometer (MC-ICPMS).

Essential Job Duties

  • Clean labware in preparation for experimental work.
  • Assist with chemical purification of relevant elements of interest from liquid samples by column chromatography.
  • Concentration and isotope analysis of biological samples by mass spectrometry.
  • Instrument/laboratory preventive and corrective maintenance with the assistance of other lab members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Completed coursework in a STEM field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience in a class 1000 clean laboratory.
  • Familiarity with Q-ICPMS instruments for concentration analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of stable isotope geochemistry.
  • Knowledge of any preferred statistical analysis tools (Python, R, etc.).
  • Skilled in the preparation of reagents at various concentrations, pipetting, and handling corrosive and hazardous materials.

Hiring Range

$18.50 to $21.25 per hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
