DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role entails significant administrative and managerial responsibilities, focusing on the leadership of the Chesapeake Bay Program within the Department of Environmental Protection. The division plays a crucial role in facilitating and coordinating the Commonwealth's initiatives aimed at restoring the Chesapeake Bay, which encompasses achieving the objectives set forth in the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement.

The division collaborates closely with various federal, state, and local agencies to tackle the challenges posed by nutrient and sediment pollution affecting Pennsylvania's Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Additionally, it manages the administration of funds associated with the Chesapeake Bay Program, including the Chesapeake Bay Implementation Grant (CBIG) and the Chesapeake Bay Regulatory Accountability Program (CBRAP) grant. Furthermore, the division is responsible for overseeing the budgeting and allocation of funds from the state's Chesapeake Bay Nonpoint Source Abatement Program, as well as the state's matching contributions towards the federal CBIG and CBRAP grants.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • This position may require travel to Chesapeake Bay, meetings, and PA counties.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 4 (Commonwealth title); or
  • Eight years of experience in progressively responsible and varied management or staff work, including personnel management, fiscal management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
