RN Supervisor, Acute General and Bariatric Surgery Unit

The Clinical Supervisor provides direct patient care and supervises the nursing operations of a unit. In the absence of the Manager or Director may assume 24-hour nursing responsibility. Works with a unit specific patient population.

While we see a diverse patient population, our unit's primary focus is on general, bariatric, and colorectal surgeries. General surgery cases can include such procedures as appendectomies, cholecystectomies, thyroidectomies and small bowel resections. Our colorectal surgery population consists of patients with long standing histories of Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's and diverticulitis or new diagnosis of colon cancer who now require surgical intervention. With this population, the nursing team works closely with our Wound and Ostomy team to give these patients the emotional and physical support they need to recover. As a Bariatric Center for Excellence, our team provides a life-changing weight loss surgeries to patients while providing them with education and emotional support to successfully accomplish this goal.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  2. Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  3. Must hold Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

  1. BSN degree
  2. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  3. One (1) year of experience in clinical specialty.
  4. Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  5. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
