Essential Job Duties
JOIN THE PACK!! The primary purpose of the position is to assist in the area of grounds keeping of the Lonnie Poole Golf Course, including but not limited to:

  • Landscaping and sodding
  • Applying fertilizer and pesticides on and around the course under the direct supervision of an employee who is licensed in Ornamental & Turf Pest Control
  • Cutting grass on the tee boxes, fairways, roughs, fringes and greens
  • Golf course upkeep
  • Sprinkler system maintenance, fencing and tree trimming


Equipment used includes but not limited to walking and riding mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, carts, push mowers and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools.

There is a State of NC mandatory 32-day break at the end of 11 months. Exceptional work performance and professional conduct throughout your employment may provide an opportunity to renew employment and/or advancement potential.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.


Department Required Skills

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs without assistance frequently.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities and assignments according to work schedule.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time in outside conditions, and perform strenuous physical labor.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.


Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Experience working in a golf course environment.
  • Experience performing the following work duties: landscaping; sodding; applying fertilizer and pesticides on and around the course; cutting grass on the tee boxes, fairways, roughs, fringes and greens; golf course upkeep, sprinkler system maintenance, fencing, tree trimming.
