Packaging Technician

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Packaging Technician to join our team in Hanover, PA. This role supports the Utz Packaging R&D team by facilitating package fit tests, fill tests, and participation in, or leading of limited plant trials, within Manufacturing. This role also performs inspection and evaluation of packaging components and assemblies against Packaging designs and post-performance testing for damage. The position will be under the guidance of the Packaging R&D Team and interact with product developers and Quality.

Candidates should possess 2-3 years of experience in food manufacturing, supporting R&D, Packaging, or Quality teams. An ability to analyze data and draw conclusions, as well as to comprehend and retain technical written instructions is required. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as cross functionally, and to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

Packaging Technician:

• Meet daily with Packaging team members to prioritize work.
• Coordinate and request line time for various testing needs.
• Produce and collect samples from plant runs or trials for analysis in the Packaging lab, or in some cases, coordinate for shipping to external partners / suppliers.
• Conduct evaluations and qualitative analysis of packaging components or assemblies and assemble data.
• Pack product to be used for Sales samples.
• Coordination and shipment of trial samples for Sensory or Shelf-Life evaluation.
• Perform other duties as assigned that will impact and support the overall outcome of the company and department objectives.

Requirements:

• Requires 2 to 3 years' experience in food manufacturing or supporting R&D, Packaging, or Quality departments.
• Understanding of basic food manufacturing and packaging systems for snack foods.
• Ability to analyze data and draw valid conclusions
• Able to comprehend and retain technical written instruction and product specific knowledge.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace; demonstrated history of attention to detail and ability to execute work independently
• Experience working in cross functional teams.
• Experience with common software and communication tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Able to balance priorities and manage multiple projects on an on-going basis
• Able to effectively listen, communicate, and interface across several organizational levels
• Able to maximize teamwork philosophies and achievements
