Engineering Test Technician

Basic Function:

Conduct tests, collect data, and maintain product performance test databases. Assist in product development and production testing.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Assemble prototypes and sample lots of products for performance testing
  • Set up equipment, conduct experiments, calculate and record the results.
  • Help develop, prototype, and test electrical and electronic equipment and devices
  • Evaluate test results on products. Determine pass-fail conditions for cable and connector products by performance category.
  • Manufacture Test Adapters by evaluating, testing and adjusting jacks based on test data and provided criteria.
  • Qualify components per test requirements and develop adjustment methods based on performance category and lot numbers.
  • Manufacture test fixtures and components. Install SMT components to PCBs. Press and solder components as shown on assembly documents. Test assemblies per documentation

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:

Two year degree in electronics, mechanics, or industrial technology or 3 to 5 years equivalent experience

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:

  • Soldering
  • Set up and operation of test equipment.
  • Identify product components and assemblies.
  • Determine appropriate tests, sampling, measurements, and procedures.
  • Read and understand product design drawings, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Use precision measurement tools and devices such as Network Analyzers, Time Domain Reflectometers, and high voltage testing equipment.

Working Conditions: While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and must be reasonably ambulatory. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. This job requires a sighted individual (i.e., vision corrected to 20/20) for significant reading and computer usage. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. This work also requires an individual with normal hearing (i.e., hearing corrected to normal ranges). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
