Overview

Woolpert, Inc. is seeking a Survey Project Manager in our Houston, Dallas or San Antonio office, who will take the helm of transformative transportation geospatial infrastructure projects, driving innovation and precision every step of the way. From overseeing route surveys with cutting-edge technologies like photogrammetry, lidar (mobile, aerial, and terrestrial), and advanced mapping techniques, to managing right-of-way maps, construction surveys, and state land surveying services, your leadership will help shape the future.

Collaborating with dynamic, cross-functional teams, you'll craft detailed, high-quality deliverables that meet and exceed expectations. Your role goes beyond project management-you'll build lasting client partnerships, foster growth opportunities, and secure repeat business with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and local municipalities



Responsibilities

Project Leadership

    Manage projects related to surveying for transportation infrastructure.
  • Facilitate scoping meetings with clients to determine project needs and requirements
    Coordinate planning, scheduling, and data development processes.
  • Collaborate with senior management to resolve schedule and budget problems as they arise and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident.
  • Ensure project milestones and deliverables are met efficiently.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, including DOT and local municipalities in Texas.
  • Foster repeat business by ensuring client satisfaction and delivering quality projects.
  • Assist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.

Team Collaboration

  • Analyze project resource needs and work with internal survey, photogrammetry and lidar teams to create detailed scopes, budgets and schedules for projects.
  • Collaborate with survey, photogrammetry and lidar teams to deliver detailed and accurate project deliverables.
  • Provide oversight, reporting, and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Expertise

  • Manage and execute various types of surveys using conventional and advanced technologies (photogrammetry, lidar), including:
    • Route surveys.
    • Right-of-way mapping.
    • Construction surveys.
    • Establishing horizontal and vertical control.
    • State land surveying services.

Business Development

  • Contribute to the growth of the organization by identifying opportunities for client expansion including State DOTs, transit authorities, cities and/or counties within Texas.
  • Develop and improve strategies to increase engagement with Texas DOT and other stakeholders.
  • Develop teaming opportunities with other geospatial and engineering firms in Texas.


Qualifications

Licensure/Certification

  • RPLS License in Texas preferred; SIT Certification required. Multi-state licensure is a plus.

Experience and Proficiency

  • 10+ years in the Survey/Geospatial industry.
  • 3+ years managing survey/geospatial transportation projects.
  • TxDOT project experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in driving new business and overseeing project delivery
  • Proficient in surveying techniques and geospatial technologies (e.g., Lidar, Photogrammetry).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard software (e.g., MicroStation ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center).
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong organization skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel for client visits, conferences and company functions.
