The Department of Health Policy & Management (HPM) at Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health invites applications for a non-tenured faculty position in healthcare management. The Director will lead ongoing efforts to raise the visibility of the Executive and MHA Program within the healthcare and public health professional community, interact with local, state and national healthcare organizations, and attend national conferences and local events that promote the Program (ACHE, AUPHA, ASPPH, APHA, HLNY). S/he will lead HPM's management programs, including the full-time MHA, part-time MHA and Executive management program. Responsibilities include program management, including budget, marking and communications, recruiting and admissions, curriculum development and advising. Further, s/he will manage CAHME and CEPH accreditation as required for management students, including regular competency tracking and assessment and annual reports or surveys. The Director will also coordinate strategic projects as related to HPM's management programs. This position will have broad decision-making purview and engage with senior leadership across the Mailman School and Columbia University. Candidates appointed at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank will have a commitment (and ideally, established experience) to teach management and organizational behavior, strategy, finance, qualitative methods or hospital management. Responsibilities Program Management: 40% Marketing, Recruiting & Admissions: 10% Advising: 10% Accreditation: 5% Curriculum Development: 5% Special Projects: 10% Teaching: 20% The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in academia, healthcare administration, and program management, along with exceptional leadership and communication skills. Supervision Received and/or Exercised In the Director's capacity as a faculty member, they will report to the Department Chair. In the Director's capacity as an administrator, this position will report to the Managing Director of Academics & Innovation. This position supervises a manager of academic programs. Responsibilities for Budget/Assets Responsible for managing multiple program budgets, which vary in amount. This position is hybrid, requiring three days in the office. Further, it requires flexibility to work different schedules, including some evenings or weekends during the year. Doctorate degree, ideally in disciplines related to management, policy, medicine, health administration, or public health (PhD, EdD, DrPH, ScD, MD, JD) Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in academia, healthcare administration, or related field.
