What We Do Manages the day-to-day activities of a team of Underwriters and may manage title professionals and support personnel that provides underwriting support and expertise to company personnel, attorneys, and customer(s), related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies. Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance and provide guidance in the performance of real estate settlement services. Develops and retains a commercial agent and customer client base.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

  • Manages and sets priorities of the daily operations of the Miami business unit of National Commercial Services division.
  • Manages a group of professionals (typically skilled exempt and non-exempt level employees) who have responsibility for title operations. Provides direct and indirect supervision of teams.
  • Contributes to underwriting reviews
  • Participates in long-range departmental planning and provides input to operational decisions and to clarify or modify project plans, and/or schedule requirements.
  • Writes and conducts employee performance reviews and provides ongoing performance feedback through coaching. Makes hiring and compensation recommendations. May get input from Senior Management/Executive Management.
  • Act in a senior capacity with a national footprint for providing commercial underwriting service and support to attorneys and direct division personnel involved in commercial transactions.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with assigned attorneys and customers to develop and retain profitable business.
  • Retain and expand National Commercial Division relationships throughout national market by assessing the clients' potential for growth in the commercial market and serving their underwriting needs.
  • Use underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite the issuance of title insurance and provide guidance in the performance of real estate settlement services.
  • Communicate proactively with and respond to internal and external customers in a timely manner.
  • Is highly visible in Florida marketing area by attending real estate industry functions and participating in community and real estate events.
  • Working with Senior Management, develops underwriting strategies.
  • Assesses and develops underwriting operational plans and works with other Senior Management to ensure that plans are integrated with broader strategies
  • Partners with other departments to align underwriting tactics with industry standards. Confers with Senior and Executive Management regarding departmental requirements and solutions; facilitates the resolution of problems and the development of new initiatives to support the business.
  • Train the underwriting team to ensure integrity of underwriting activities and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure

  • Law Degree required.
  • 5-7 years of underwriting experience with focus on complex commercial transactions.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role preferred
  • National Commercial experience preferred

  • Excellent understanding of concepts, practices and procedures of commercial real estate titles and closing.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to real estate title insurance and settlement services.
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to lead others in effectively implementing programs and projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and analyze problems, identify, and drive appropriate solutions, and achieve desired results.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task, prioritize, timely respond and work under pressure.
  • Ability to build relationships and create rapport at all organizational levels.
