Position Overview

This position supplies critical support within the Engineering COE, to execute business processes and current management system programs for mechanical integrity and reliability on a global basis. This covers over $1.6 Billion in plant assets in North America. This position can have interactions approx. 16 plants within NA that span 3 time zones but the main interaction will be with the 9 Southern Region Plants.

The key elements of this position include but are not limited to:



  • Provide specific subject matter expertise on mechanical integrity issues and approaches (Inspection & Repair Plans)
  • Become a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the use of SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) & PS (Project Systems) with the potential of becoming the BPO (Business Process Owner) for North America. SAP PM is the primary tool to manage maintenance activities at all locations.
  • Provide Global Leadership in the area of Rotating Equipment. This includes, but not limited to, improvement around performance & reliability of existing systems and the guidelines when procuring new equipment.
  • Design spare part strategies for network spares in the area of Rotating Equipment in North America.
  • Become a SME on vibration systems management used to ensure the reliability of rotating equipment and manage the exterior partner who helps analyze the incoming data.
  • Lead RCA (Root Cause Analysis) investigations into large equipment failures. Must be able to summarize information and be able to support the variance process with the appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and local/regional/national compliance requirements of equipment design
  • Collaborates closely with the MI COE as well as the site leaders, site maintenance personnel, regional project managers and EHS personnel to execute programs and projects associated with reliability of rotating equipment.
  • Develop work processes and tools to identify and share best practices with sites across the region
  • Support the annual bottom up budgeting process for the PSM Budget.
  • Manage vendor surveillance work in collaboration with third party inspectors.
  • Support sites to identify and resolve top reliability issues at assigned sites based on frequency or cost impact. This can be in a number of areas around maintenance management.

Job Responsibilities


  • Participate on global business process teams in the oversight of the design, implementation, and sustaining of SAP PM & PS globally.
  • Work with a limited number of locations to execute the EIT program as established for the year and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for the area.
  • Know the local regulatory requirements so that EIT events are executed appropriately.
  • Working knowledge of the RBMI (Reliability Based Mechanical Integrity) tool that is being used for stationary equipment compliance to ensure the EIT events are executed in accordance with the IWP's (Inspection Work Plans).
  • Working knowledge of the SAP EDMS system in order to find the appropriate documentation for the EIT events
  • Working knowledge of the method of classification / criticality method employed by the MI Group
  • Lead in working with site maintenance professionals to execute the PM plans for rotating equipment and diagnose issues as they arise.
  • Working knowledge of the MRO activities as they are implemented throughout the network
  • Be able to execute projects as either a project manager or support of the project manager at locations in North America.



ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:



  • This position reports to the Global Engineering COE as part of the Project, MI & Reliability Team.



SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:



  • The Scope of Responsibility will Globally with a focus on North America with focus on EIT events in the South Region and major incidents that are tied to mechanical integrity. Future activities can be to manage programs across NA that have commonality of purpose from site to site.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Be able to manage on a continual basis sustaining programs within the MI COE.
  • 7+ years experienceas an engineer, specifically supporting rotating equipment in an industrial environment
  • PSM (Process SafetyManagement) experience
  • Must have good organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to communication in a virtual environment to a larger audience to train personnel on SAP usage.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and practices. SAP PM & PS understanding is required.
  • Must be able to implement a regional program as developed by their supervisor and execute within the timeframe allotted across multiple sites.
  • Must have understanding of Engineering Documentation Management Systems (EDMS).
  • Mechanical Engineering degree and 7+years of direct maintenance experience or a demonstrated background in rotating equipment management and leading maintenance organizations
  • Must be able to operate large Excel spreadsheets and develop Powerpoint presentations. Advance skills in Excel are required and intermediate skills in Powerpoint are also required.
  • Must be able to collect data, analyze and interpret it with recommendations.
  • Must have advanced computer skills.
  • Travel 30 to 50%.
  • International Travel will be required to Canada.
  • The MI COE is a virtual group.
  • This position will work virtually when not traveling.
  • This will require access to a home office as a central office will not be provided.



Physical and Mental Requirements:



  • Standing, walking, sitting, hearing, seeing, talking, listening, climbing.
  • Must also be willing and able to travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Have a minimum of ten years of hands on experience in using SAP.
  • Experience in the area of agency and company requirements.
  • Working knowledge of inspection codes such as API 510, 570 and 563.
  • Past working experience with defect correction in major pieces of stationary equipment.
  • Personal skills with the ability to communicate with site maintenance personnel as well as outside vendors and upper management.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Project
  • Familiar with Electronic Data Management Systems
