The Department and Clinical Operations Manager for the GI and Cardiology

Job Description

The Department and Clinical Operations Manager for the GI and Cardiology divisions within the Department of Medicine is responsible for overseeing the operational, administrative, and fiscal activities of the divisions and their associated research units. This role ensures compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, supports clinical operations, identifies growth opportunities, and collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

* Direct the operational and administrative functions of the GI and Cardiology divisions.
* Provide administrative support to ensure efficient division operations.
* Ensure compliance with School of Medicine, Campus, and University policies and procedures.
* Oversee timely completion of required training modules and evaluations.
* Develop and implement department policies as needed.

Research Operations Leadership:

* Develop and implement departmental plans and priorities to meet short-and/or long-term research objectives and address any research and operational challenges
* Act as key department resource for research compliance questions/ issues
* Oversee research-related accounts, revenues, and expenses, including management of salary allocations funded by grants
* Partner with SOM and campus research staff to ensure a compliant research program focused on growth
* Manage, monitor, and advise on need for space and equipment as it relates to research within the Department of Medicine
* Assist principal investigators (PI) with the development and submission of grant proposals, including budget development

Fiscal Management:

* Ensure the financial health of the GI and Cardiology divisions.
* Ensure the financial health of grant-funded projects and research operations across the department.
* Approve all divisional and research expenses, including additional pay, incentives, and timesheets.
* Review UP incentive agreements and extra pay agreements.

Clinical Operations:

* Identify market opportunities for new outreach initiatives and enhance awareness of service lines.
* Resolve referral and clinical access issues to improve patient flow.
* Analyze and monitor clinical productivity reports, addressing any issues and providing guidance to align productivity with strategic priorities and growth targets.

Growth and Development:

* Work closely with the Senior Director to develop and direct the strategic business plan for the divisions.
* Work closely with the Senior Director to develop and direct the strategic business plan for department-based research operations.
* Prepare business analyses and direct clinical program expansions.
* Implement innovative clinical programs and manage changes to existing programs.

Shift

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a health or business related field.
Requires at least five or more years experience within a health care setting of which the incumbent has a minimum of one year supervisory experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in business, Healthcare Administration, or related area. Experience with finance and performance improvement.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $90,251 - $118,000
