What you need to know:

As a Lead Development Specialist, you will support the fundraising department in establishing best-in-class donor cultivation, engagement and stewardship resources that retain and grow donor investment in the mission of the American Red Cross. This position will specifically support our corporate fundraising team in written communication to donors, including: proposals, stewardship reports and informational updates. You will also serve as the face of the Red Cross to corporations and employee bases who fund our mission. This could include but is not limited to mission impact presentations, employee engagement events and lunch and learns both in person and virtually.

This is a hybrid work position where you will work once a week in our office at 2200 W Harrison Street and remote at other times. In-office expectations may vary based upon work requirements.

  • Supports strategic efforts to cultivate relationships with corporate donors in support of our fundraising needs.Creates guidance, tools and resources to deepen and grow relationships with our donors. Ensure corporate benefits are being executed and manage sponsor templates.
  • Responsible for researching and writing proposals, creating donor stewardship reports and authoring a variety of donor communications.
  • Develops and implements strategic processes with a continuous improvement mindset, focused on enhancing department-wide donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship practices.
  • Fulfills critical communications function during times of episodic disaster.Supports the team as needed in implementing our Disaster Fundraising Action Plan.
  • Provide guidance and collaborate with Leaders to develop and execute the strategy to build grantor relationships, streamline the grant process, and increase support.
  • Provide coordination, logistic and relationship support as needed for the grantor's annual giving campaigns and corporate workplace campaigns. Handle meeting logistics, create effective communication plans for special events, develop resources, training programs and group calls, order and coordinate production and tracking responses.

What you need to succeed:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable.
  • A current valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.
  • Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system.

* Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Compensation: The hourly range for this position is $26.00 - 29.00/hr.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
