This position is located at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida.

This position is not eligible for telecommuting

Essential Functions
  • Fabricate non-complex tasks from raw materials to completed product
  • Perform modification of existing chassis and brackets as required
  • Assist qualified personnel with the setup of power brakes, power rollers, or Strippit punching machines
  • Fabricate racks, consoles, chassis ducts, and brackets with multiple holes, cutouts, compound bends, angles, and radiuses under the guidance of qualified personnel
  • Assist System Maintenance Engineers in determining characteristics of metal for proper utilization in specific applications
  • Assist qualified personnel in the completion of large projects and assemblies
  • Install hardware and assemble chassis and slides in racks as needed
  • Perform occasional corrosion control activities, including but not limited to surface preparation, sandblasting, spot painting, and touchup
  • Assist with modification to all wave-guide installation and repair tasks
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Perform other related duties for general Depot maintenance as assigned
Required Skills
  • Understanding and ability to read blueprints, sketches, and equipment maintenance manuals
  • Good communication skills
Required Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical/trade school or equivalent apprenticeship training
  • Two (2) or more years' experience in related fabrication and sheet metal work
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal technology, including metal types and applications
  • Knowledge of corrosion control technology
  • Working knowledge of hazardous materials and waste management procedures

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to frequently climb elevated antenna structures and work from heights up to 30 feet
  • Ability to operate general maintenance tools and sheet metal equipment
  • Ability to operate crane, forklift, and trucks to 1 tons
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate Vernier calipers, height gauges, protractors, and squares
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Salary determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
