Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Process Area Leader to support our Cellulose Facility's Purification Area in Memphis, TN! In your role you will work with leaders from various departments to provide technical support in process engineering, train and develop a team to support operations while complying with safety and regulatory standards.

Our Team

The Memphis Cellulose location has been in operation since 1921 and plays a significant part of the Georgia-Pacific business as one of the most diverse cotton cellulose producers in the market. Here, we manufacture various grades of specialty pulp that find use in a wide range of applications, including LED displays, coatings, plastics, currency papers, construction, pharmaceuticals, food additives, thickeners, and filter applications.

What You Will Do

* Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the chemical pulp processing area, focusing on achieving production, quality, and efficiency goals through disciplined operations management.

* Provide technical expertise in process engineering and design to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges while driving process improvement initiatives to optimize performance, reduce waste, and enhance safety.

* Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of technicians, operators, and engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, quality, and process control, utilizing effective communication and interpersonal skills to drive innovation and ensure seamless operations.

* Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate regular reports to track progress and inform strategic decision-making.

* Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, promoting a safe and sustainable working environment.

* Manage resources, including labor, chemicals, and equipment, to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

* Leverage excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex operational issues and implement effective solutions.

* Supervise process engineers and hourly personnel and collaborate with Process Control resources to ensure chemical, steam, and mechanical process are designed and controlled to deliver uniform and consistent quality results.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or related field.

* Experience in leading, training, and developing teams within a manufacturing environment.

* Process engineering experience including but not limited to process design, optimization, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.

* Experience with industry software (Excel, Pi Process Book, DCS Control Systems etc.)

What Will Put You Ahead

* Experience in the Pulp & Paper or Cellulose industry.

* Master's degree in chemical engineering or related field.
