Follow Trident on the Web atwww.tridentseafoods.comor on social media onFacebook,Twitter,Instagram,Pinterest,YouTubeorLinkedIn Summary: The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Managerdevelops, implements, and coordinates product food safety and quality assurance programs to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products by personally performing the following duties or through subordinate supervisors. This position is responsible for preparing sites to meet state and federal regulations as well as NOAA Seafood Inspection Program requirements while providing SME support to meet customer requirements for information submission and specification conformance. Key Responsibilities:
- Trains and oversees site personnel to ensure adherence to department protocols.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, economic trends, and design and development of new products for consideration by other members of management team.
- Develops and executes alternative methods and procedures to improve the plant food safety and quality assurance systems.
- Coordinates activities between developing departments and plant operational units for new product/process implementations.
- Reviews complaints, technical problems and procedures of plant departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
- Cooperates with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.
- Ensures all department employees are aware of and comply with government and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Develops initial and subsequent modifications of product food safety and quality assurance program to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements, and operational procedures within program.
- Visits and confers with representatives of vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders, and vendor food safety and quality standards.
- Liaisons with representatives of governmental regulatory bodies such as USDC and FDA.
- Ensure sites are "audit ready" at all times. Conduct effective internal audits at appropriate frequencies. Ensure internal audit observations are addressed expediently on a risk/priority basis.
- Conducts training necessary to meet and/or exceed FSQA standards, customer specifcations, regulatory compliance and third-party audit standards.
- Leads, participates, and contributes to plant and corporate FSQA driven operational quality and food safety improvement initiatives.
- Reviews technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in industry.
- Maintains current knowledge of government and industry FSQA codes and standards (GFSI, BRC, HACCP, ADEC, USDC, and others) and ensures compliance.
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $100k to $120k. Trident Seafoods offers a comprehensive and quality benefits package. Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience in the Quality Assurance field, preferably in food production or seafood industry
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Intermediate proficiency with MS office applications, specifically, Excel
- Knowledge of HACCP regulations, Food Safety, and Audit procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food or Biological Sciences
- HACCP certification
- Working knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) schemes including BRCGS, SQF, etc.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.
- The employee is regulary required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
- The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds and frequently up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.
