Team Manager - 3rd Shift, Full-Time, Forks GENERAL SUMMARY: Achieve Safety, Quality, Service and financial targets by understanding Lean as a system to lead and improve the overall capability of the team to perform many of the day-to-day tasks needed to continuously improve in all metrics. Continuously enhance team performance by coaching, training, and sustaining the principles and structured activities of the Crayola Operating System. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and continuously improve team's performance in production, quality, environment, and safety by achieving pre-established goals and objectives.
- Lead the effort to coach employees in Lean thinking to continuously improve production processes within the Crayola Operating System (COS). This includes, but not limited to, training, coaching and sustaining the structuring of every activity (standardization), visual management, A3 problem solving thinking and experimentation to systematically eliminate the 7 kinds of waste in our processes to continuously improve our measurable results.
- Ensures teams are integrating Environmental, Health and Safety behaviors and processes into their daily business requirements through communicating regulatory requirements, training and coaching team members.
- Assess team's knowledge of all manufacturing measurements, educate team members to build link between achieving measurements and daily team work. Ensure measurement systems are in place so teams may track, analyze and develop continuous improvement plans based upon this data versus goals.
- Accountable for developing the competencies of team members by addressing technical, interpersonal, team and problem solving skills. Coordinate training plan for the team(s) and facilitate agreed upon training modules.
- Through continuous daily interface with teams, observe and analyze problem situations and lead team in "how to resolve." Facilitate problem solving sessions as needed and transfer these skills to appropriate team coordinators through coaching and feedback.
- Assure effective coordinator/process lead meetings with team members and other functional support areas to resolve issues and develop skill depth.
- Performance manage hourly employees, including completing annual performance reviews and disciplining employees consistent with conduct and performance guidelines.
- Lead project work, as assigned by Manufacturing Leadership, which may include assembling and leading cross-functional teams.
- Maintain and administer plant policies and procedures on a consistent basis.
- Manage production output to reduce inventory investment through the use of approved changeover reduction methods, standardization, documentation and training of hourly employees.
- Develop and implement cost reduction plans that will positively impact financial plans. Develop process and costing for newly developed products.
- Identify and implement visual management concepts to improve manufacturing performance.
- Complies with federal and state Hazardous Waste regulations including proper handling, storing, labeling, and familiarity with Crayola's Emergency Action Procedure in the event of a spill or leak.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and two year for professional experience OR minimum five years' of professional/supervisory experience preferably in a team based organization.
- Facilitation and/or training certification preferred, along with demonstrated active listening skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas, information and feedback.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and administrative procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and performance management.
- Flexibility to work various hours and shifts.
