DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repairs on buildings, machinery, and equipment. In your role with the Philadelphia County Maintenance Organization bridge crew, you will actively contribute to various trades and manual labor activities on highways and bridges.You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing drainage culverts, bridges, and other roadway structures. This includes building forms, pouring and finishing concrete, welding metal structures and replacement parts, and applying paint to enhance durability and extend their lifespan. Your expertise will also encompass masonry work for county buildings, bridges, guide rails, walkways, retaining walls, foundations, and concrete block walls. This involves constructing forms, expertly finishing concrete, and ensuring proper sealing. Your skills will play a vital role in the integrity and longevity of these critical structures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours may vary between the following shifts:
    • 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
    • 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM (midnight) or
    • 12:00 AM (midnight) - 8:00AM
  • Work schedule may change during summer & winter seasons.
  • This position may require travel and overtime.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
