THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will conduct monitoring and compliance tasks, along with various assessments, for a designated area to enforce the Oil and Gas Act, Conservation Law, and Coal and Gas Resource Coordination Law, along with relevant state rules and policies. Your duties include performing regular inspections of oil and gas wells and related facilities using department-issued electronic tools to accurately document all findings.

You will address citizen complaints regarding oil and gas operations that may pose environmental, health, or safety risks, including issues with abandoned wells. If there are immediate threats to public health and safety, you will promptly inform operators by phone. Additionally, you will take necessary compliance actions when violations of permits, laws, or regulations are identified.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in New Stanton.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $58,035.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of technical experience in well design, drilling, completion, production, plugging, or underground storage operations in the oil or natural gas industry; or
  • An associate's degree in Petroleum Technology or closely related field, and one year of technical experience in well design, drilling, completion, production, plugging, or underground storage operations in the oil or natural gas industry.
Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
