As part of a the QP Manufacturing Engineering organization you will be put your engineering and problem solving skills to the test, seeing your solutions put into action in real time with a mix of assignments ranging from just a few days to several weeks to complete. This position is ideal for the highly motivated individual who enjoys getting their hands dirty; working directly with production tradespeople and management, developing designs from inception to use on a variety of interesting applications. Job assignments will include design development and production support of:

Fabrication fixture designs and process support- supporting steel trades in all aspects of steel construction including forming of steel, ship-fitting and welding
• Lifting & Handling arrangements - learning state-of-the-art crane capabilities and heavy load transporter operations
• Scaffolding designs & arrangements - intricate work platform designs supporting personnel access/egress to various parts of the submarine modules
• Shop drawings and build strategies
• Initiating and implementing Process Improvements as well as supporting trades in implementing their ideas

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location.

Required:

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil (Structural), Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 0-4 years engineering experience
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense

Preferred:

• NX, Teamcenter, SOLIDWORKS, and/or AUTOCAD experience in 3D model manipulation, analysis, and 2D drawing development
• Experience and knowledge in submarine design and/or construction desired
• Knowledge of lifting/handling methods and structural fabrication techniques desired

• A demonstrated ability in multi-tasking and technical project management is desirable.

• The successful candidate must be highly motivated, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a drive to be successful, and excellent attention to detail while being comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment
