The Application Engineer position is responsible for developing, integrating, and leveraging technology solutions to optimize student and employee experiences, improve processes and to enable and expand organizational capabilities. It involves systems analysis and design, programming and development, application administration, and maintenance and support.

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)
-
- Perform application lifecycle activities, including: design, code, test, implement, monitor, and debug software applications; following established change management processes and enforcing code standards; evaluating new technology products.
- Assign security and complete maintenance activities across all systems in use at the College.
- Serve as technical liaison with other departments and organizations to implement, integrate, review, and evaluate technologies and services.
- Investigate data and/or program problems; determine source of problem and take corrective action.
- Coordinating with software vendors and external service providers; troubleshooting escalated software bugs and providing fixes.
- Develop technical documentation and instructions for end users.
- Manage and maintain API's for various applications.
- Update and maintain information in the ticketing system, and prepare status, activity, and project updates and reports, as requested.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts by adopting processes that improve overall efficiency.
- Provide maintenance, support, and guidance for third-party software solutions.
- Provide excellent customer service, adhering to departmental standards; acting as a source of direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff.
- Provide off hours support, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Working experiencein systems design, programming and/or systems software and support. Knowledge: Programming in one or more languages such as PowerShell, C#, PHP, Python, Envision, Unibasic and various others and DBA experience. Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines. Knowledge of coding languages and systems Ability to learn new coding languages and technologies. Personal: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently. Physical: Able to perform required position responsibilities.
