Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Missouri has an exciting opportunity for a Research Specialist. This person will be responsible for the daily activities of a research laboratory. This person must be able to work independently under the guidance of the lab director. Demonstrated experience and/or capability to perform the key responsibilities below independently is required.

The person in this position will be responsible for: performing molecular and cellular biology experiments including measuring RNA and protein concentration, performing PCR, qPCR and Western blot; cell culture, including starting and maintaining cell culture lines, maintaining supplies (media/reagents), media preparation and maintaining proper cell culture room procedures; assisting with histology experiment such as tissue collection, processing, embedding, sectioning, various chemical and immunostaining, collecting and analyzing data; managing mouse colony and performing genotyping for various mouse lines; assisting in studies involving pigs, including feeding and surgery/tissue collection.

Shift

Hours are generally Monday - Friday, 8-5.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $15.29 - $26.11/ hour; commensurate with education and experience.

Grade: GGS-007
