Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Operations to lead and manage the overall operations of multiple manufacturing facilities. The Director of Operations will be responsible for overseeing metal stamping production, robotics integration, and lean manufacturing processes while ensuring compliance with industry standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO audits. This role requires strong leadership, a commitment to operational excellence, and expertise in driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Leadership & Oversight: Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day operational oversight across multiple plant sites to ensure the achievement of production targets, safety standards, quality objectives, and profitability goals.
  • Metal Stamping & Robotics Expertise: Utilize deep knowledge of metal stamping processes, automation, and robotics to optimize production efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve quality and throughput.
  • IATF 16949 & ISO Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to IATF 16949 standards, ISO quality management systems, and other relevant industry certifications. Oversee audit preparation and coordinate audit processes to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Plant Manager Oversight: Work closely with Plant Managers to develop and implement site-specific strategies, monitor performance, and drive operational improvements across multiple facilities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and champion continuous improvement initiatives (CI), using lean manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis to drive operational efficiencies, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and management of resources, including staffing, materials, and equipment to ensure maximum operational efficiency and effectiveness across all plant sites.
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Provide regular reports to senior management on operational performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Safety & Quality Assurance: Ensure all operations comply with safety standards, health regulations, and quality procedures. Promote a culture of safety and quality throughout the organization.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Develop, manage, and control operational budgets. Monitor costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety standards.


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience


  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations management within a Tier 1 automotive supplier environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management or equivalent experience. Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience in metal stamping, robotics, automation, and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and related automotive industry standards.
  • Proven track record in multi-site management and ability to oversee multiple plant operations simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success in leading continuous improvement initiatives and driving results in a high-performance environment.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, cost reduction, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging environment.


Additional Skills:


  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification highly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (PLEX highly preferred).
  • Experience in high-volume, high-precision manufacturing environments.


Supervisory Duties:


  • Will have direct supervision of Plant Managers for North America.


Travel:


  • This role will have a travel requirement of up to 40-50%.
