DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An Accountant 1 applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information. You will prepare financial reports for Housing Authority programs and ensure the Authority's accounting records are accurate and in compliance. Additionally, you will maintain the general ledger for multiple housing authority programs and funding sources, oversee tenant accounting, including distribution of billing statements, posting of payments, and reconciliation of accounts; process and post bank deposits and collections loss information; be the petty cash custodian; and be responsible for the tracking of utility consumption and payments. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Fiscal Technician and 15 college credits in accounting; or
- Five years of bookkeeping experience; and 15 college credits in accounting; or
- One year of professional accounting experience and graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Fayette County. If no eligible candidates who live within Fayette County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
