THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position you will report to the Aging Care Management Supervisor II. Responsibilities include dual supervision of six Aging Care Manager Ills, one Aging Care Manager II, and one Clerk Typist II. You will be expected to be knowledgeable of all the laws, rules, regulations, and operating procedures involved with the Protective Service and all aging programs and services. You will also act as a liaison with the local ombudsman and representatives from law enforcement and other legal entities.

Other general responsibilities include:

  • Aids Supervisor II in planning, organizing, and assigning work to staff to ensure timely completion of work assigned.

  • Reviews and approves work completed by care managers, which includes reports of needs, investigations, assessments, reassessments, care plans, and case summaries.

  • Analyzes case records for completeness and adherence to established standards.

  • Conducts regular case conferences with each care manager.

  • Responds to casework queries for guidance on policies and appropriateness of plans, etc., in a prompt and knowledgeable fashion.

  • Aids in evaluation of staff performance and makes recommendations regarding personnel actions.

  • Participates in the process of interviewing and selecting prospective applicants for employment within the protective services department and recommends and* implements changes in staffing patterns as required by changing program needs.

  • Completes reports as required, prepares correspondence, and maintains necessary records, tracks assignments, and identifies and addresses problem areas.

  • On a rotation basis, screens after-hours' crisis calls and supervises the care manager on call.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in public or private social work and a Bachelor's Degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Wyoming counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
