Student Worker, Career Services & Workforce Development

Position Purpose
This position assists the Office of Career Services and Workforce Development with providing support to students, alumni, community members, faculty and employers.

Position will work up to 20 hours per week

General Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm - (with additional early morning and/or evening hours available per events scheduled.) When applying, please state what days and hours you are available to work.

This position is a federal work study student worker position. Please check with the Gateway Center regarding your eligibility prior to applying for this position.



Responsibilities include:

  • assistance with administrative support and front desk service: greeting guests and answering phones, scheduling and checking in students, alumni and community members for appointments,
  • data entry,
  • assembling presentation packets,
  • assisting with document creation in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and
  • assistance with various Career Services and Workforce Development events, career fairs, and employer engagement activities.


A high degree of professionalism is required for this very visible position.

The attire when working in the office is business professional.
The applicant must be detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

A high level of confidentiality is required. Exceptional communication skills and presentation skills are a must.
Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must be a Stark State Student enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours in the semester they are working during fall and spring semesters.

The chosen references receive job-specific surveys on at least 26 critical behaviors and skills. These behavioral competencies have been scientifically studied and have been shown to correlate with work outcomes.

Stark State College utilizes E-Verify to ensure compliance with applicable employment eligibility laws. E-Verify is an electronic system used to confirm the employment eligibility of new hires.
