About the Job (Job Brief)

The IRA Processing team provides Operational and Customer Service support for the brokerage retirement products offered through Key Investment Services. Fast paced and busy environment processing contributions, distributions and various other IRA asset movements including the transfer or distribution of assets to beneficiaries of an IRA. We offer phone support to our Financial Advisors and internal banking partners, in addition to the internal brokerage operations teams such as the ACAT Transfer team, Trading Operations, Annuity Processing and New Accounts.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Emphasis on processing contributions, distributions, Roth Conversions, Recharacterizations, transfers due to death or divorce of retirement plan owners and other miscellaneous movements of Retirement plan assets.
  • Providing customer service support via incoming phone, fax and emails from KIS Financial Advisors, Licensed Relationship Managers and other internal banking and brokerage partners.
  • Understanding of the various types of retirement accounts as well as the unique transaction types in each of the different types of retirement plans.
  • Understanding of basic IRS rules pertaining to contributing to and taking distributions from Retirement Plans.
  • Manual calculation of Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) and Net Income Attributable (NIA)
  • Assessment and review of incoming documentation and forms.
  • Consistently contacting and communicating NIGO situations to Financial Advisors and guiding them through a resolution.
  • Work closely with internal Key Investment Services Operations departments who have a unique roll in the support of Retirement plan accounts.

  • Each specialist should be able to work independently while recognizing that each team member is dependent on the workflow and productivity of all other team members.
  • Each Analyst should be able prioritize and adapt resources during times of higher volume or when covering for an absent team member.
  • Continued education of Retirement plan products, complex tax reporting and changing regulatory environment.
  • Good listening skills, speaks effectively, uses diplomacy and tact when working through challenging situations and when delivering information that may not be favorable to the recipient of the information.
  • Provide project support duties as assigned by management.
  • Make informed decisions and independent judgment/decisions.
  • Ability to recognize and escalate risk.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 3- 5 years of experience in Brokerage Operations environment or Retirement plan operations.
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication.
  • Strong customer Service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work and meet established deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate detail orientation, precision and exactness.
  • Strong personal Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exhibit a proactive nature and approach to learning, problem identification and resolution.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to be successful.
  • Positive attitude, team player, cooperative, mature.
  • Well organized with the ability to multitask.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $50,000 to $55,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
