The Role:

The Quality Control Lab Analyst is an hourly non-exempt position located at the Gurnee plant in Gurnee Il. This position will work collaboratively with cross functional groups. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this position will be responsible for analytical support for RAI processes and products including analytical testing, review of product quality data, improvements for existing methodologies, and lab equipment troubleshooting. A successful candidate will be highly responsible, detail-oriented, motivated and a self-starter with a broad understanding of chemical analysis and microbiological techniques. In addition, this individual will possess the ability to effectively communicate and develop professional relationships with internal and external parties. This position requires individuals to be available for periodic off-hour coverage and every third weekend.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $28.00-$31.00/hour. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Performs quality control tests utilizing standard lab equipment (e.g. spectrophotometer, HPLC, pH meter) to evaluate and report on the quality of products manufactured with defined specifications.
  • Enters testing results into SAP LIMS system.
  • Reads, understands and follows laboratory standard operating procedures, using ability to perform qualitative and quantitative assays.
  • Manages, coordinates and executes tasks including:
    • Analytical instrumentation calibration
    • Wet-chemistry and instrumental analysis of in-process and final products
    • Execution of validation studies
    • Tactical management of retained samples based on established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Basic laboratory equipment and instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, as directed.
  • Provides laboratory work coverage on rotating staggered 1st shift schedule to support RAI Manufacturing Operations.
  • Works collaboratively with internal and external constituents, including Quality Assurance, Production, Customer Care, Shipping and external vendors.
  • Inspect products for compliance with established quality specifications
  • Initiate documentation for nonconforming materials as required
  • Manage laboratory chemical inventory system and retention of materials
  • Assist with cross-training and mentoring other Quality Analyst
  • Support or execute validations as assigned
  • Effectively plan and utilize resources for timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Critically evaluate, analyze and interpret data for conclusions and resolutions of problems.

  • BS in Biology/Chemistry or Related Field
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Strong problem solving, innovative and analytical skills
  • SAP experience in a lab setting is a plus
