The Plaistow YMCA is seeking an experienced and passionate High-Level Team Coach to inspire and guide youth through exceptional gymnastics instruction. This role focuses on fostering a love for the sport while helping gymnasts develop their skills in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

Reporting to the Gymnastics Director, the High-Level Team Coach will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, while delivering top-notch instruction tailored to each gymnast's age and developmental stage. Building strong relationships with gymnasts, their families, and team members is key to creating a positive and inclusive environment. Additionally, the role includes contributing to program success by supporting organizational goals and handling other responsibilities as needed.

If you are passionate about coaching, skilled in building connections, and eager to make a positive impact in the lives of young athletes, we'd love to have you on our team.



  • Proven expertise in routine construction, choreography, and practice planning, with a strong understanding of skill requirements.
  • 3-5 years of experience coaching JO Levels 6-10, with a track record of developing competitive gymnasts.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Optional Code of Points and the ability to apply it effectively.
  • Proficient in spotting high-level skills and drills to ensure safety and proper technique.
  • SafeSport Certification (or the ability to complete it within 15 days of hire).
  • Alignment with the YMCA's core values and commitment to the mission and goals of the department.


Environmental and Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically and mentally capable of maintaining the skills required for certifications.
  • Ability to physically demonstrate gymnastics skills and techniques in classes.
  • Must possess the ability to see and hear in emergencies and respond effectively.
  • Capable of lifting and maneuvering equipment and weights up to 55 lbs, equivalent to a small or average-sized child.
  • Comfortable standing for long periods and navigating uneven gym surfaces.
  • Demonstrates the ability to react physically and mentally to unexpected circumstances with appropriate action.
