The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) at UC San Diego works with undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students with documented disabilities (psychological, psychiatric, learning, attention, chronic health, physical, vision, hearing, autism spectrum disorders, and acquired brain injuries), reviewing documentation and, through an interactive process with the student, determining reasonable accommodations. The OSD also serves as a resource to UC San Diego faculty and staff who are providing accommodations to students in classrooms and labs across campus. The OSD has also developed working relationships with other offices on campus to streamline services to students with disabilities. DESCRIPTIONFunctions as a moderately experienced professional with regard to determining reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Deals fairly independently with a range of accommodation issues. Decisions can impact university compliance and liability under federal and state disability law and regulations. Work is completed with a moderate level of independence under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director of the Office for Students with Disabilities(OSD). Provides disability management counseling to students with disability(ies) as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the ADA-As Amended, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Assembly Bill 746, as it relates to OSD's mission. When presented with sensitive ADA/504 related issues by individual students, parents, faculty, and/or broader campus community (the colleges, Student Affairs, Campus Counsel, Academic Dept. Chairs, graduate program administrators or School of Medicine faculty and administrators, Veterans Administration), researches and responds to the issue(s) appropriately and under the guidance of the OSD Director or management designee. Prioritizes and completes on-going tasks following established departmental guidelines, feedback from the OSD Director or management designee, University policies, and State/Federal laws. Other assignments are made by the Director on a project basis. Workis reviewed regularly with the Director through status reports, Disability Specialist meetings, and when actions necessitate a deviation from standard guidelines. Conducts student intake interviews involving students with disabilities. Counsels office staff and students on disability management issues. Develops and maintains relations with campus departments, community agencies, and national organizations. Applies working knowledge of access issues for people with disabilities as they relate to physical and digital environments and provides feedback to constituents.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
