EHS Compliance Analyst
The EHS Compliance Analyst (Junior to Intermediate Level) plays a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies. This role involves developing and applying professional expertise to analyze, interpret, and resolve a variety of compliance-related issues of moderate complexity. Routine tasks are performed under minimal guidance, with additional support provided for new or complex assignments to foster professional growth. This position requires strong analytical thinking, diligence, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. It offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a strong foundation in EHS compliance practices. This position will report to the North American EHS Manager/AMER Sr. Manager. Responsibilities Audits & Certifications
- Provides site level support for internal and external compliance audits as co-auditor, ensuring efficient and thorough execution.
- Manages site open findings for assigned sites, collaborating with site teams to provide guidance, resources, and actionable solutions for timely resolutions.
- Develops and maintains site-specific tools and documentation to meet EHS compliance objectives and ISO certification requirements, ensuring sustained compliance and audit readiness.
- Prepares compliance reports for local management, including key performance indicators with support from senior team members.
Management Systems
- Conducts spot audits of EHS and certification records, collaborating with site personnel to ensure timely updates and ongoing compliance.
- Provides first level support for management review meetings, contributing to discussions and documentation as needed.
- Ensures adherence to Equinix policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal legislative requirements.
- Maintains EHS compliance records in local and global repositories, including those relevant to Equinix policies, regulatory compliance, and ISO standards.
- Serve as an administrator for internal tools, addressing queries and optimizing their use to support compliance objectives.
Training
- Conduct and implement compliance training to meet organizational and regulatory requirements, while tracking completion rates.
- Stays informed about compliance developments affecting their assigned region and implements necessary changes to maintain adherence.
- Delivers training for Operations teams on internal tools, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinates with translation vendors to localize policies/procedures, and training materials for regional needs.
- Pursues continuous education and certifications to enhance EHS expertise and meet role specific requirements.
Regional/Site Level Responsibilities
- Oversee IBX EHS activities at assigned regional data centers.
- Assists IBX Managers with implementing site-level compliance policies and processes, ensuring alignment with global requirements.
- Manages site-level communications, including addressing requests for assistance, questions, incident reports, and reports of non-compliance with timely and accurate responses.
- Supports incidentand compliance investigations by identifying root causes, and contributing factors, and ensuring thorough evidence collection and documentation.
- Ensures compliance for new site expansions with regulatory and Equinix requirements.
- Oversees the application and adherence of designated permits and plans (e.g., Air, Spill Prevention, Chemical Reporting, etc.) for assigned sites.
- Serves as the primary liaison between assigned sites and regulatory agencies.
- Evaluates workplace changes, processes, equipment, and substances for compliance with Equinix policies, recommending corrective actions, as necessary.
- Collaborates on process improvement initiatives and compliance projects for assigned sites, working with regional and global stakeholders to drive efficiency and alignment.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety (EHS), or a related field, or five years relevant EHS Data Center experience.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations specific to the assigned region.
- Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and regulatory compliance requirements. Energy and/or ISO 50001 knowledge considered a plus.
- Firsthand experience with compliance audits, documentation management, and process improvement initiatives preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Relevant EHS or compliance certifications considered a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels in a global team environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision on routine tasks.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 20%) to support audits, training, or site-specific initiatives.
The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $84,000 to $126,000 per year California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $77,000 to $115,000 per year
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
