Job Summary

Under general supervision, provide professional advising to students concerning community-engaged learning and other forms of experiential education, career planning, and placement upon graduation in K12 education, Climate Action, and Food insecurity-related professions. Primarily serving undergraduates in the Sacramento Valley College Corps Coalition (SVCC), a year-long service program that provides holistic support toward academic excellence and grant objectives on-campus with no to minimal remote flexibility. Provide support to diverse students in College Corps and campus processes. Support implementation strategies of courses related to career development and support of students engaged in experiential learning. Work with on and off-campus sites to develop and support civic service engagement. Develop and present workshops, instructional offerings, and information meetings related to leadership and career services. Assist with collecting and analyzing workload data, including statistics on student participation in the funded project and divisional service participation and engagement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

* Bachelors degree in education, psychology, social science (ie, or social science (i.e., ethnic studies, art, community regional development) equivalence or related fields.
* Advising experience and skills to advise students concerning career goals, career planning, experiential education, labor market information, and placement into the fellowship/internship, FWS, community-engaged learning, and career positions.
* Experience teaching and/or conducting workshops or presenting information to small and large groups (200+) setting for students, internship or community-engaged learning hosts and employers.
* Experience in the development of experiential education programs. Skill to develop and maintain internship positions in the public, private, and non-prot sectors for undergraduate students.
* Skills to strategically analyze the overall fellowship and community-engaged learning programs and to define specific services necessary to address identified needs toward increasing the overall program success.
* Skilled in designing, organizing, and delivering career service programs, including networking events and informational sessions.
* Strong written and oral communication skills to represent College Corps and UC Davis affiliates, support students with career and curricular materials and collaborate with Student Affairs Marketing on print and web-based content

Preferred Qualifications

* Masters or advanced degree in education, psychology or social science (ie, or social science (i.e., ethnic studies, art, community regional development) equivalence or related fields.
* Skills to thrive and make meaningful contributions in a collaborative environment, skills to work well with others, and exibility to contribute daily to programmatic and statewide activities.
* Familiar with using social media (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter) for marketing, research, communication, and job searching
* Skills and experience to thrive and make meaningful contributions in a collaborative environment; skills to work well with others, and flexibility to contribute daily to programmatic and Center-wide activities .
* Familiarity with the use of LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter for marketing, research, communication, and job search.
* Skills and experience with psychosocial and cognitive student development and K12 class management.

Department Overview

The College Corps (CC), a dynamic team in Student Affairs Assessment at the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, providing innovative and comprehensive civic engagement, career services, and experiential learning with a commitment to equitable access, has campus-wide responsibility for developing experiential education opportunities and for providing support for the career exploration and development process to students. This includes part time employment, career planning internships, community engaged learning and other forms of experiential learning in context of career employment (or graduate school acceptance) upon graduation with a goal that students are employed in positions commensurate with their world-class education.
