Job Summary

Provides key accountability and oversight of enterprise-wide perioperative services and is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all clinical, financial, and operational aspects of the perioperative administrative services department. Efficiently manages the associated physical, financial, and human resources, and establishes the annual departmental operational goals and objectives in alignment with Prisma Health goals. Provides leadership and management for PH Periop Admin Svcs which includes Perioperative Scheduling, Revenue/Charging, PI/Quality/Performance Improvement, and Materials Management for all surgery, anesthesia, and GI sites as well as ambulatory surgery centers. Assists with development of strategic goals across perioperative services across Prisma Health. This position provides guidance and administrative support for all provider-based operations where surgical services exist, including strategic feedback to align the business structure of perioperative services to optimize system-wide financial and operation metrics and results. This individual will serve as a partner with operational and service line executives, directors, and managers for surgical related opportunities. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Ambulatory and Service Lines with a strong alignment with the Medical Director for perioperative services.

Essential Functions

  • Provides effective leadership by managing, coordinating, and integrating services to ensure Prisma Health perioperative operations provide the necessary resources related to clinical, financial, and operational functions for all Prisma Health perioperative sites.

  • Works with the Medical Director of Perioperative Services to develop a comprehensive inter- professional approach to achieve care delivery excellence throughout the patient care continuum that measurably improves quality, creates holistic, patient centered care experiences, and reduces healthcare costs by reducing waste and optimizing the value proposition. Provides effective leadership by managing, coordinating, and integrating services to ensure Prisma Health perioperative operations provide the necessary resources related to clinical, financial, and operational functions for all Prisma Health perioperative sites.

  • Directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs for Prisma Health perioperative operations. Directs standardization, systemization, and performance improvement initiatives across perioperative services.

  • Directs perioperative charging and revenue capture operations.

  • Develops short- and long-term strategy and goal setting for inpatient and outpatient surgical service line (including ASCs) to ensure strategic perioperative objectives are met.

  • Identifies, establishes and evaluates quality and patient safety standards, programs and procedures within perioperative services.

  • Develops and monitors departmental budget. Assists in the development and monitoring of perioperative services operational and capital budgets.

  • Accountable for final decision regarding assigned work activities, coaching and counselling, mentorship, delivering corrective action, evaluation performance, scheduling, approving time off, hiring, termination and training.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Master's degree in Business, Healthcare or related field of study.

  • Experience - Five (5) years leadership experience in healthcare operations. Perioperative services experience preferred.

  • Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships including physicians, department directors/managers, and executives.

  • Lean training - Preferred
