Job Description:

Buyer- The Auto Club Group

What you will do:

Researches, negotiates, coordinates and analyzes pricing information for the acquisition of ad-hoc materials, equipment and services for the Auto Club Group (ACG) in accordance with corporate principles and standards of procurement practice. Initiates and maintains supplier relationships. Drives a variety of procurement categories through negotiation, acquisition, maintenance and disposal. Supports the efforts of leveraging the Auto Club Group objectives between ACG, AAA National and other AAA clubs. May serve as project team leader and represents the area in meetings or on project teams as required.

Conducts ongoing research into the availability and quality of various goods and services to reduce costs and improve acquisition methods company-wide. Reviews and analyzes financial information, prepares cost benefit analysis and makes recommendations to management. Provides financial information for cost center and company impact reports. Coordinates the bidding process to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to corporate standards. Prepares capital and expense budgets and forecasts for projected acquisition of goods and services. Provides general product knowledge and training to delivery and support system regarding the acquisition of materials, equipment and services.

Buyer will earn a competitive salary of $58,000 - $65,000 annually with annual bonus potential based on performance.

We're looking for candidates who:

Required Qualifications:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Identifying, analyzing and resolving customer/vendor issues and concerns
  • Coordinating and supporting projects
  • Expense management
  • Decision making
  • Preparing contractual agreements
  • Auditing invoices and statements
  • Cost justification, bidding processes and negotiations
  • Inventory control
  • Developing business proposals for management review

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Budget preparation techniques
  • Preparing reports and conducting presentations to mid levels of management
  • Working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Uutilizing personal computer applications and learn various mainframe applications to store, retrieve and analyze data
  • Performing a variety of concurrent activities utilizing time management principles
  • Planning and leading cross-functional teams
  • Communicating effectively with others in a work environment and with the suppliers and internal customers
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports
  • Planning, coordinating and implementing special projects
  • Developing product and service specifications
  • Providing training and work guidance
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills essential. (Samples may be required at time of interview.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor Degree and/or Professional Certification (e.g., Accredited Purchasing Practitioner, CPM) preferred

Experience:

Experience with Oracle and/or Workday

IT Buyer experience

Work Environment

This is a hybrid work arrangement (time spent in office and remote). Depending on the employee's role and leadership's assessment, some employees will come in to an ACG facility on a weekly basis, a monthly basis, or on an "as needed" basis for key meetings and collaborative activities. Most employees will be required to come into the office, at a minimum, for important departmental meetings or teambuilding events.
