What you'll be doing...

This is a leadership role reporting to the VP of Cyber Defense with a focus on Cyber Threat Intelligence. This role will primarily be focused on maturing tactical and operational intelligence support; strategically expanding the strategic intelligence research & reporting; as well as providing new intelligence sharing and collaborations with peers and the U.S. Government entities. This role will work closely with technology partners, business stakeholders and other parts of the CyberSecurity organization, including the Business Information Security Officers (BISOs), Network and product team to improve the Verizon security posture.

In addition, the role will be responsible for the oversight, mentorship, and continued development of the programs and teams within the Threat Intelligence organization. The candidate will be required to possess and develop strong technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently to manage high-profile matters.

What we're looking for...
  • Overseeing tactical and strategic components to enhance and mature existing cyber Intelligence functions

  • Providing actionable intelligence for Verizon to understand threats and predict strategic changes when the threat landscape changes.

  • Facilitating information sharing by developing relationships, forming networks and partnering with different organizations in the business and external stakeholders

  • Reviewing intelligence reports and analytics with peers and leadership for the purposes of situational awareness and making intelligence actionable

  • Ensuring adversarial insight is provided through research and dissemination of open (OSINT) and closed source intelligence.

  • Maturing threat modeling utilizing MITRE ATT&CK framework and making recommendations for countermeasure development.

  • Driving the effort to identify new intelligence feeds and implement process intake.

  • Supporting Verizon Cyber Security during incident response and threat monitoring activities by identifying current impact and providing guidance around proactive countermeasures and mitigating controls.

  • Establishing enterprise-level KPIs to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction. This includes defining key metrics and trends in the day-to-day operations and implementing changes to support the team's mission.

  • Presenting executive-level operational read-outs, metrics, and threat intelligence briefings that accurately capture the effectiveness of the Cyber Threat Intelligence team. This includes leveraging internal data, threat trends, and operational metrics to clearly communicate threats to the Verizon landscape for senior executives, to include the Chief Information Security Officer.

  • Developing and executing long-term and short-term strategic goals and ensuring proper updates are socialized to appropriate stakeholders.

  • Developing and setting clear goals and team expectations to successfully achieve organizational objectives.

  • Conducting team performance management activities like conducting reviews, check-ins and disciplinary action, as needed.

  • Attracting, retaining, and leading a team of employees by educating, developing and managing them to deliver strong results.

  • Promoting an environment of collaboration and individual accountability when it comes to problem-solving, decision-making, and process improvements.

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Ten or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training

  • Ten or more years of Cyber Threat Intelligence experience

  • Five or more years of Government and Threat Intelligence experience

  • Five or more years of people management experience

  • Have TS/SCI clearance at time of hire

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Experience creating and maintaining partnering relationships with business leaders at VP, SVP and C-levels with the capability to provide interaction and executive level communications.

  • Comprehensive understanding of cyber based adversarial frameworks including MITRE ATT&CK and Lockheed Martin's Cyber Kill Chain.

  • Expert knowledge of the cyber threat landscape including types of adversaries, campaigns, and the motivations that drive them.

  • Technical experience working with analysis techniques, identifying indicators of compromise, threat hunting, and identification of intrusions and potential incidents

  • Proficient knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure and Google.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of cybersecurity risk management concepts, cybersecurity frameworks, secure coding principles, and security technologies.

  • One or more of the following certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI)

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $148,000.00 and $275,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
