As an experienced HR leader, the Director Market HR will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our store's talent. This role will oversee a team of District HR Managers and provide advice, coaching, and counseling to our field teams. This role acts as a trusted advisor, helping to fulfill business objectives through strategic human capital. The Director Market HR impacts talent, culture, change management, coaching, and performance management through daily collaboration and partnership. Job Description:

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree (accredited) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Retail Management, or a similar field of study, or equivalent years of related work experience in lieu of a degree is required.

Work Experiences:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in Human Resources with progressively responsible management roles
  • 5+ years leading teams
  • Experience in the retail sector with multi-unit experience, preferred
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification, preferred
  • Workday experience, preferred
  • Experience with multi-state responsibilities, preferred
  • Experience in fast-paced, complex, and ambiguous environments

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and maintains rapport with people of diverse backgrounds and various professional levels
  • Collaborative personality who can gain alignment and consensus with key stakeholders on complex challenges across multiple departments
  • Strong communication skill set (verbal and written) with the ability to influence others by presenting logical arguments tailored to the audience.

  • Ability to work in changing environments

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee all HR aspects of assigned market territories and ateam of District HR Managers
  • Focus on integrating HR into all aspects of business operations
  • Lead talent management processes, annual performance processes, andemployee engagement processes within assigned market territories
  • Focus on staffing, retention, compliance, and team member satisfaction within assigned market territories
  • Conduct employee relations investigations
  • Impact compensation decisions
  • Participate in recruitment and talent acquisition decisions
  • Anticipate HR needs within the assigned market, making recommendations and developing plans

Align Performance for Success

  • Translate HR strategic priorities into operational realities
  • Align accountabilities to ensure that priorities yield measurable and sustainable results
  • Stay connected with relevant market and industry trends to foster new and better initiatives
  • Analyze trends and metrics to align business strategies
  • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing HR strategies

Build Strategic Work Relationships

  • Act as astrategic business partner for all HR-related needs
  • Work closely with field leaders and Corporate Business Partners (COE's) to reach decisions
  • Seek feedback from field leaders to gain clarity on opportunities within areas of accountability
  • Clearly and succinctly conveys information and ideas in a compelling way

Coach and Develop Others

  • Set clear performance expectations while inspiring the team to meet and exceed expectations
  • Establish a fun, authentic, and dynamic team culture
  • Create ateam environment that encourages accountability, high standards, and innovation
  • Lead the team to ensure department goals are reached and translated into daily activities
  • Coach and develop team members to strengthen theirskills
  • Hire, train, and develop ateam to support daily operations

  • Recommend innovative solutions for complex HR problems
  • Consult with leaders on decisions around talent, performance, and development
  • Partner with legal counsel, as needed, on various outcomes and next steps
  • Use ideas to persuade key stakeholders to take action that will advance shared interests

  • Effectively balances tasks and requirements through prioritization skills
  • Ensure consistency in HR practices
  • Oversee and manage an assignedbudget

Additional Information

  • Embraces frequent local and overnight travel across Academy's footprint
  • Adopts flexible schedules to support the business (early mornings, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays)
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy's policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Responsibilities may change; required to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to company rules governing professional staff behavior

Physical Requirements & Attendance:

  • Willingness to travel 70% of the time
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and Holidays as needed
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
