PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Production Shift Leader leads, manages, and oversees a single shift operation in a manner that enhances the plant's safety, engagement, quality, customer service, and productivity.

This position will be responsible to create and sustain an engaged environment of team work and collaboration, where employees work together to safely produce quality products that meet or exceed our customers' requirements while maximizing productivity. This will require the candidate to work within a collective bargaining agreement with full compliance.

Span of Control: Production Employees

Hours: Flexible working on 12-hour shifts day/night depending on business needs


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities



  • Consistently display safety leadership through work habits and leading by example
  • Ensure direct reports are fully engaged around proactive safety responsibilities (BBS, Job Planning, Risk Assessments)
  • Take ownership of implementing a safety culture that exemplifies Owens Corning's Safety Stand
  • Ensure the safety of all personnel through constant and consistent management of workplace conditions and employee behaviors
  • Reports and investigates all injuries, first aids and near misses



Be customer driven:



  • Complete required business reporting in a time sensitive manner
  • Update metrics boards or screens as required
  • Tie the customer back to all production employees' daily tasks to KAIs to visualize quality and OEE impacts
  • Personally lead, engage in and encourage direct reports to engage in voice of the employee continuous improvement activities
  • Use root cause methodologies to reach solutions that eliminate process or quality upsets



Maximize productivity:



  • Facilitate development and implementation of data collection and process control to enhance manufacturing processes
  • Support and participate in TPM teams to implement operator generated improvements
  • Identify and develop improvements necessary to increase process efficiency
  • Track and review mission critical manufacturing metrics and ensure proactive steps to achieve goals (i.e OE, OEE, CE, and Pack Rate)
  • Monitor the daily manufacturing operations of people, tools, machinery, and systems



Create and sustain an engaged environment of teamwork and collaboration:



  • Develop and maintain working relationship with Union
  • Communicate and support company/division/plant objectives and goals
  • Effective strong verbal and written skills
  • Review all plant/division/company goals with team and ensure completion of the activity required to deliver to these expectations
  • Perform regular one-on-one performance reviews with employees; understand employee career goals; develop and execute talent development as needed
  • Perform and ensure proper documentation of performance and training for all employees as necessary to maintain a flexible work environment
  • Encourage all employees to build strong working relationships and communication through sharing, respect, candor, integrity, innovation, accountability, and fun
  • Advocate for inclusion and diversity and support site I&D efforts on their shift



JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelors Degree is required



EXPERIENCE:



  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting, directly supervising others



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Ability to work well in a collaborative or matrix environment
  • Able to communicate in English (written & oral)
  • Strong leadership competencies (Attention to detail, Sense of Urgency, Strong Execution, Initiative, Self Starter)
  • Candidate able to demonstrate stress tolerance
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and projects
  • Logic, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills
  • Industrial Mechanical or Electrical aptitude (preferred)
  • Continuous improvement focused (Lean experience preferred)
  • Green Belt or Black Belt (preferred)
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish is preferred)
  • Strong Computer Literacy-MRP systems (i.e. SAP, POP) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point)



Salary Range

The base salary range for this position is $76,000-$122,000 with the potential for up to an additional 25% if the applicant hired has additional related qualifications.
