2025 Summer Intern - Translational Medicine Department Summary The Translational Medicine department at Genentech informs the clinical development of novel personalized therapeutics through the establishment of biomarker strategies aimed to study the molecular pathways driving disease and to characterize the mechanism of action of our therapeutics. We focus on prognostic, predictive, and pharmacodynamic biomarkers to enable our vision of "the right drug for the right patient at the right dose". As a member of the biomarker mass spectrometry laboratory, this participant will gain hands-on experience in the field of mass spectrometry and quantitative biomarker assay development while supporting diverse clinical programs. Specifically, the participant will utilize mass spectrometry-based approaches and develop a mass spectrometry method to measure biomarkers in disease relevant biofluids. The participant will also have the opportunity to understand how the assessment of these analytes impacts the biomarker strategy for specific clinical programs and how biomarkers are used to support drug development.
