Job Summary

This position will bring a depth-of-experience to an IT Engineering group which primarily responsible for technical project work as well as overseeing day-to-day operations. The successful applicant is an eager, self-motivated team player who consistently sets a positive example when approaching projects, server maintenance, directory security, engineering IT solutions, as well as the configuration and installation of the company's infrastructure systems. This team member will also be required to train junior-level colleagues to use a multitude of technologies as well instruct in proper documentation processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

    Develop innovative solutions to problems through evaluation and proof of concepts with new and existing technologies.
  1. Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to develop plans to improve the cloud and systems architecture of WaFd.
  2. Develop presentations of technology solutions and present them to the Architecture Review Board (ARB)
  3. Establishes standards and best practices across technologies and platforms
  4. Ensure vital infrastructure services are being maintained and continually improved.
  5. Provide prompt and accurate information for audit items (Internal, SOX, FDIC, etc.).
  6. Participate in the delegation and assignment of projects and ticket work amongst the IT Engineering team.
  7. Implement, provide training for, and help maintain systems such as; AWS native services, Office 365 and Exchange Online, Redhat Linux, Pure & Nimble Storage, Solarwinds Monitoring, Patching/Compliance Management, etc.
  8. Develop and maintain system performance monitoring and alerting technologies, troubleshoot performance and availability issues, and manage escalations as necessary.
  9. Administer 3rd party server applications supporting a diverse range of technologies, previous exposure to FiServ or other banking industry support providers is highly desirable.
  10. Knowledge of Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible is a plus.
  11. Develop strategies for system efficiency, growth analysis, right-sizing of compute resources, and application tuning.
  12. Ensure service contracts and support contracts are kept up to date


Qualifications

Education/Skills/Training:

  • Associate/Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner Certified (or higher) a bonus.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment and decision making.
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to work in fast paced environments.
  • Ability to assist internal and external customers in a personable and professional manner.
  • Must have a valid Washington state driver's license and be insurable under the Bank policy.

Experience:

  • Experience with various scripting methodologies (Powershell, Bash, Python, etc..) and systems automation processes (Ansible).
  • Previous experience administering/implementing Active Directory.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server.
  • Redhat Linux experience is a plus.
  • Owning significant technical elements throughout project lifecycles.
  • Experience with cloud governance, maturity, and optimization, such as GCP, AWS, and Azure
  • Experience with container platforms such as docker.
  • Detailed knowledge of networking protocols: DNS, DHCP, LDAP, ISCSI.
  • Exposure to IT security concepts / best practices.
  • Regulatory and Compliance (SOX, OCC, PCI) a plus.
  • Experience building requirements and documentation for technology solutions, evaluating products, and producing recommendations for procurement.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a similar environment.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to Associate-level colleagues.
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to explain complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Contributes to drafting systems policies and standards to achieve company goals.
  • Possess an exceptional attention to detail, with a concern for ensuring accuracy, clarity, and quality of work.
  • Understanding of IT approval processes for all work related to business-impacting changes.
