Summary

Sr Analyst Business Intelligence

The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst provides strategic business insights, leveraging market data and analytics to drive effective execution and decision-making. This role supports retail trade, pricing recommendations, and sales team efforts with in-depth analyses. The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop impactful customer selling stories and manage multiple projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

The Company services a variety of trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. We bridge the gap between manufacturers and retailers, providing consumers access to the best products available in the marketplace today.

Responsibilities

    Strategic Business Insights: Keep a pulse on the business, bringing the right insights and market data to measure DSMP tactical execution. Leverage key learnings to inform plan adjustments and partner with Sales and Business Intelligence Manager for in-market execution.
  • Trade & Pricing: Contribute to the development of retail trade & promotional pricing recommendations, supporting the Sales Team with in-depth pre- and post-promotional analysis. Insights and learnings to enhance trade effectiveness and efficiency for Clients.
  • Business Reviews & Market Assessments: Assist the Business Intelligence Manager by incorporating insights and data from a variety of sources in the development of line reviews, business reviews, and impactful customer-specific selling stories to help support ADV client selling opportunities.
  • Project Management: Prioritize and manage project schedules by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving issues.
  • Data Solutions & Enablers: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for various reporting systems and tools. Encourage cross-functional collaboration to share information and improve efficiency. Seek continuous improvement in analytical and reporting capabilities to identify growth opportunities.
  • Associate Development: Provide coaching, training, and direction to associates to help them achieve professional objectives.

Does not have direct reports, but may delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction, and mentoring to indirect reports.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Level: Bachelor's degree required
Field of Study/Area of Experience: Degree from a university program focused on category management, shopper insights, or business insights. Professional Category Management Certification is a plus (i.e. CMA, CKMG, TPG, Delta Associates, etc.).

Experience Requirements: 3 to 5 years of experience required.
Experience Requirements: Power-user of analytics and insights tools, utilizing multiple data sources to drive better business decisions. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Excellent communication and organizational skills, with proficiency in MSFT Office and experience mentoring others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to influence business decisions with fact-based insights through competitive intelligence, retail intelligence, and persuasive communication.
  • Strong analytics, interpretive, & problem-solving skills - translating data into actionable insights.
  • Extensive knowledge of syndicated scan data and business reporting applications.
  • Experience using data visualization tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.).
  • Strong Excel skills required, including pivot tables and v-lookups; experience with relational databases and multi-dimensional data cubes (i.e. Alteryx, MSFT Access) is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear and actionable manner.

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Hybrid work environment with 3 days in office to collaborate with cross-functional partners and 2 days from home office.
