SUMMARY:
Mechanical Assemblers Level 2 complete the final stages of assembly of the fire truck accessories and finishing touches.
This position may also assist the electrical team with wiring of items such as lights.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

Ability to perform all duties performed by Mechanical Assembler Level 2 and :

Trim and crosslays and speedlays
Layout and cut holes for side pump panels
Trim out top of pump house
Install hose bed covers out of tread bright
Install cascade systems
Design and install coffin compartments
Install hydraulic systems and ladder rack assembly/fold-a-tank carriers
Help design, fabricate and install cab step overlays and front bumper assemblies and aerial cat walks
Aerial Department Only - Design out rigger covers
Self-check work and inspect prior processes
Meet production goals
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Initiate process improvements when able
Work in close proximity to customer, as needed
Operate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job
Operates both stationary and moving overhead cranes
Assist other team members and departments as needed
Other duties as assigned
Operates any equipment or tools needed to perform the job

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Ability to use basic hand and power tools
Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to maintain attendance within company guidelines
Ability to retain and apply instructions
Positive attitude
Work overtime on short notice
Embrace change
Basic computer skills
Basic math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Must be detailed orientated
Ability to read and understand truck specification documents
Ability to communicate and understand in English
Ability to work within safety guidelines
Ability to visualize tasks and determine appropriate action
Ability to receive general instruction and complete tasks
Demonstrated ability to be self sufficient
Demonstrated ability to train associates
May perform basic MIG welding on stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum as needed
Serves as a go-to person
