MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform and adhere to Herschend's Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest service operations.
- Maintain a positive attitude and appearance at all times.
- Approach guests in a friendly manner to offer assistance and provide information regarding Newport Aquarium.
- Arrive on time and ready to work all scheduled shifts, and in accordance with aquarium uniform and appearance standards.
- Keep safety as a number one priority at all times while working at Newport Aquarium.
- Understand policies and procedures relating to the overall functions of Guest Service department.
- Work with other team members/departments of Newport Aquarium to ensure effective communication is implemented at all times
- Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.
- Must be self-motivated to work independently, as well as, disciplined and reliable.
- Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations at all times, ensuring guest and team satisfaction.
- Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible for property screening duties (metal detector).
- Ensure all visitors enter at scheduled date/time (Timed entry tickets).
- Guide guests without tickets to ticketing window.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Service Management Team.
- On a daily basis, you can expect to:
- Search bags by visual and/or mechanical device
- Be able to work adjacent to and properly operate electronic Metal Detection Unit and hand held wands
- Be able to scan Guests and deal professionally with any Guest that may need additional screening or has prohibited items in their possession
- Provide professional Guest Services such as giving directions, answering questions, interacting with friendly conversation and representing the Company in a positive, family friendly manner
- Be observant of any potentially suspicious activity and report same to an armed Security officer, Supervisor or Law Enforcement officer
- Be able to work at multiple positions and assignments as the Company needs changes with rapid increases or decreases in the attendance flow
- Be able to work in an outside environment, standing for an extended time, in all type of weather conditions
REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check
- Physical strength, including the ability to lift/push/pull/move up to 25 pounds (Crowd control stanchions)
- Outdoor duties dependent on weather conditions
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings, weekends and/or holidays
