Job Summary

This is an Apprentice position in which individuals may advance to a Journeyman Level position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship training program. This position will assist in the installation, operation, maintenance and removal of equipment associated with the various communication systems employed by the company and must perform these duties wherever the equipment is located.

Essential Functions

  • Must progress from one apprenticeship period to the next by successfully completing all requirements of the prescribed training, written exams, oral and demonstration skill tests learned through formal and informal training.
  • Successfully complete on the job training provided by journeyman and supervisors and demonstrates competent performance of essential skills.
  • Receive and make radio service calls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair voice and data communication equipment, update radio equipment data bases, construct electronic/radio frequency circuits, and test and evaluate new equipment and technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair RF signal issues, radio equipment and cellular communication devices contained within enclosures mounted on Distribution poles and tower locations. The majority of this work is accomplished using aerial lifts and/or ladders to reach the equipment.
  • Utilize radio service software products, electronic test equipment, read schematics and perform soldering to complete tasks.
  • Maintain service vehicle inventory.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Company safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist as ground support in antenna/cable installation and or maintenance work at tower sites.


Education Description

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics or 60 credit hours of formal accredited training in electronics or related technical discipline. In lieu of education, may consider two (2) years of military experience, commercial, and/or industry related work.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in electronics, radio technology or related technical field.
